Unfortunately Rover has been unable to detect sufficient levels of methane gas that would suggest that there were still some form of micro-organisms/bugs living on Mars. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-24165219)

Left the boat early today; didn’t go for a cruise. Cold and windy and lumpy (the water). Got home in time to watch the America’s Cup racing. It lasts another day. Sigh.

I have a strong suspicion that over the next couple of weeks, the only ‘news’ that is happening around the world/at home will be all about the government shutdown that is likely to happen over the budget vote. US House passes budget bill that will defund Obamacare.

And talk about being out of touch. I have just confirmed for myself that Dana Paxton is leaving/has left for Australia. I am assuming that as she is leaving the US, she is leaving US Sailing as their Communications Director. Her shoes are going to be hard to fill. It was great fun working with Dana.

Best wishes to Dana and Greg for their future in Australia. And good luck to the new Communications Director at US Sailing. Joanna
