ImageHappy Labour Day. Hope you were able to enjoy your day whether or not you were labouring.

Today was the day when the re-enactment of the Battle of Lake Erie took place. The start was delayed a couple of hours, presumably because some nasty weather came through. However, judging by the photos I have seen, the sun came out, the wind blew and a fun time was had by all. Unfortunately we knew we would be unable to change the course of history so we made a bee-line for harbour on our way back from Leamington, ONT rather than detouring  via South Bass Island and the battle ground.

ImageI have to give a shout out to Officer Knight from the US Customs and Border Patrol in Sandusky. He was so pleasant today as I checked in with his office. One of the best experiences I have ever had when checking in with the USCBP. Thank you.

I have to say, boating on Lake Erie was actually quite pleasant. Because most of the boats were to the west of South Bass Island, there was very little traffic in Sandusky Bay which made for very little boat chop and no washing machine effect. Maybe the Battle of Lake Erie should happen more often.

Never mind, “Don’t give up the ship”. I see no ship!                Joanna
