so the moon rises.

And especially this weekend when we remember all the men and women who have sacrificed so much for us, and those who are still out there protecting our right to sit at anchor on such a cold but beautiful evening. Thank you.

And I got to thinking (scary I know; could result in something cataclysmic, but I digress). I was thinking about Bekah’s song “In Between” and the video that goes with it and the part where she is looking at photos of her grandparents who served in the armed forces during, I think, WWII. My Mum’s dad, ie my grandfather, served on the mine sweepers in the English Channel during WWII. My father-in-law was stationed in India and kept the airplanes flying. And even now, with all the awful reports that come through on the news, young people are still joining up to help serve and protect our freedoms. And yes, in spite of the extra rules and regulations and restrictions that are placed upon us as a result of terrorist attacks, we are still free.

Several of the junior sailors who grew up with Anna and David are serving or have served in the military – Coast Guard, Marines, Navy. And Bekah’s brother is studying for the entrance exam for the Navy right now. To all of these young people, again I say Thank You.

And did you hear about the bridge that collapsed in Washington state? We have a bridge just like that near us which is very heavily used. A new one is supposed to be being built sometime soon, but until then, we will continue to take our lives in our hands every time we drive, bike, walk across it.

One final thought to leave you with: “Global warming debunked: NASA report verifies carbon dioxide actually cools atmosphere.”          Rest easy in your beds.            Joanna
